Requirements to Pawn a Car for Cash in South Africa

Because asset-backed car loans are secured directly by the physical equity of your vehicle, we do not require salary slips, business balance sheets, or perfect credit scores. Mandatory Documentation Checklist

1. Original NATIS RC1 Registration Document

The blue-and-white Certificate of Registration in Respect of Motor Vehicle. Crucially, the certificate must reflect your name as the Registered Owner and Title Holder. Digital copies, certified photocopies, or license disks are legally invalid.

2. Valid South African Identification

Original Green Barcoded South African ID Book or Smart ID Card. For foreign nationals, a valid passport with valid legal residency permit and traffic register number is required.

3. Proof of Residential Address (FICA)

A utility bill, municipal account, retail store statement, or formal lease agreement not older than 3 months matching your residential address in South Africa.

4. South African Bank Account

3 months recent bank statements reflecting an active personal or business transactional account into which the loan funds can be transferred via EFT.

  • • Vehicles still financed by a bank (WesBank, MFC, ABSA)
  • • Vehicles without original NATIS registration papers
  • • Vehicles registered in another person's name without their presence
  • • Stolen, cloned, or police-flagged vehicles
  • • Heavily accident-damaged, non-running shell vehicles
